- Sponsorship reinforces commitment to South Africa’s Gaming landscape
Johannesburg – Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM), through its dedicated gaming platform, The Toyota Gaming Engine (TTGE), is proud to reaffirm its leadership in the gaming and esports space as the official sponsor of Comic Con Africa 2025, taking place from 28 to 31 August 2025 at the Johannesburg Expo Centre.
As gaming continues to gain cultural and commercial significance in South Africa, Toyota’s presence at Comic Con Africa reflects its long-standing support for grassroots gaming communities, emerging players, and the broader creative economy. The TTGE platform continues to serve as a critical touchpoint for both casual and competitive gamers, delivering immersive experiences for participants and spectators alike.
The TTGE stand will feature an extensive line-up of gaming titles, accessible to fans across all skill levels. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with:
- Gran Turismo 7 on full-motion SIM rigs
- Clash Royale and Subway Surfers on mobile
- Street Fighter, EA FC, and Brawlhalla on console
- A rotation of additional titles showcased on the TTGE mini stage
Stage competitions, daily rewards, sign-ups, and “Beat the Pro” challenges will offer an inclusive platform for all Comic Con Africa attendees to participate, new and old to the world of gaming.
Returning by popular demand, the TTGE-hosted SIM Rig Musical Chairs tournament will take centre stage, with winning teams receiving advanced driving experiences through Toyota’s Advanced Driving Academy. In addition to gaming hardware, Takealot vouchers, and merch, more than R25 000 in prizes will be up for grabs during the 4-day expo.
Toyota’s stand will also bring together some of the country’s most celebrated personalities. Award-winning cosplayers will be paired with custom-designed Toyota vehicles on display, and well-known content creator Troy Shepherds will return following his successful debut at Comic Con Cape Town earlier this year.
Commenting on the sponsorship, Glenn Crompton, Vice President of Marketing at TSAM says, “Comic Con Africa continues to grow in both scale and cultural significance and our ongoing partnership reflects Toyota’s investment in making gaming more accessible to all South Africans. Through The Toyota Gaming Engine, we aim to provide authentic engagement opportunities, both in the digital and real-world performance spaces, while contributing meaningfully to the future of gaming in the region.”
Toyota invites fans, players and families to visit the TTGE stand at Comic Con Africa 2025.
